Gift and Mystery: On the Fiftieth Anniversary of My Priestly Ordination, by
Pope John Paul II (Doubleday, a Division of Random House, New York, 1996).

If you are looking for an easy read in a book that you and your youth will
enjoy, check out Gift and Mystery by Pope John Paul II.

This book was written after the Pope’s 50th anniversary of his priestly
ordination and is his own vocation story. Some interesting notes: when Pope
John Paul II lists the influences on his vocation, he includes his family,
his parish, his high school religion teacher, life experiences, and his
devotion to Mary.

Many of us have the opportunity to have the same impact on those to whom we
minister! This short trip down the pope’s memory lane gives us all a chance
to reflect on how we are answering the call
