National Study for Youth and Religion: Analysis of the Population of Catholic Teenagers and Their Parents
The National Study for Youth and Religion has been underway since August of 2001. Funded by the Lilly Endowment, and under the direction of Dr. Christian Smith of the Department of Sociology at the University of North Carolina, this study was designed to help us develop a greater understanding of the religious lives of teens and their families, and how the two impact each other. A national telephone survey, as well as interviews with teens and parents provided the data.
For more information on this study, its design, findings, publications and resources, visit the site at: http://www.youthandreligion.org or purchase and read a copy of Soul Searching: The Religious and Spiritual Lives of American Teenagers which details the findings of the NSYR.
Catholic Data Analysis
The data collected on Catholic youth and their families was made available to the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry, and has recently been collated and put into a published format. As this data is further assessed and analyzed, more will be shared here.
In the meantime, the publication is available for purchase at NFCYM's online store.
